Self-determinded living

Gebäudewirtschaft Cottbus GmbH (GWC), represented by the Managing Director Dr. Torsten Kunze, and the Chair of Industrial Information Technology at the Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus, under the direction of Prof. Uwe Meinberg, concluded a cooperation agreement on “Self-determinded living” in an “eHealthLab Cottbus”.This is an “electronic health test laboratory” which will be used for academic studies by the HeLiTec-Research-Initiative. HeLiTec stands for Health and Living Technologies and is led by Prof. Dr. Christian Hentschel. The aim is to develop technical systems and components in the fields of medicine, rehabilitation and comfort and to test them in close cooperation with users as well as enterprises of the region. The project is supported by the professors Baier, Böger, Fellbaum, Hentschel, Hipp, König, Krämer, Krebs, Meinberg, Nethe and Nolte.

A show apartment with high-tech equipment has been prepared by GWC at Löbensweg 16, in the north of Cottbus. Two students of the BTU are going to live in this flat in the winter semester 2008/2009 and test the suitability of the equipment for daily use. The findings will contribute to a long self-determined living in the privacy of one’s home, supported by intelligent technologies.
