Our approach

The development and production of products, the distribution of goods and administration are only a few examples of business activities which could not remain competitive without the aid of modern information and communication technology. The same can also be said about administration in the public sector.

Current trends already show great development potential: products without the need for prototypes, production systems without those initial problems (fast-ramp-up) and production and logistics that give optimal performance. These are all areas which are currently being addressed using modern computer and software technology. The aim of this is to use a computer to digitally depict every process from the emergence of a product and the planning of related production and logistics systems to the actual manufacturing and distribution. Real-life problems can be eliminated in a digital world using tools such as simulation and knowledge management.

To ensure more efficiency and speed, or in other words guaranteeing competitiveness in a turbulent global environment, all those involved in production must be able to communicate with each other in real-time. We develop concepts and solutions for businesses based on our research with the purpose of furthering universal use of optimal information systems.

Our goal is to use our current and future research and development work in the subsequently described fields to contribute towards agile information systems that support all processes within a company and between a company and its environment. This not only concerns suppliers and buyers, but also public institutions.

This goal is achieved through the use of research and company-orientated work aimed at designing a framework for responsive information systems incorporating methods, concepts and solutions to meet all common requirements.

Responsive information systems can be characterised by the following:

  • The simple handling of transactions is enhanced by knowledge transfer and knowledge management.
  • The systems are interactive and can collaborate.
  • The Use of the applications is proactive and not just reactiveu.
  • Information is processed in real-time regardless of system limitations.
  • The systems can be quickly installed.
  • They allow for rapid integration – even when legacy systems are in place.
  • They can be quickly adapted to keep pace with changes in structure and demands.
